Briggs & Stratton is hiring a Senior Manager, Accounting to manage complex accounting functions and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. You will oversee the preparation of financial statements, analyze performance, manage the external audit, and drive continuous improvement within the finance organization.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and manage the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information for management and outside parties.
- Review and approve significant accounting estimates and complex accounting transactions.
- Support changes to company accounting policies for assigned areas, ensuring controls are in place and general ledger accounts are reconciled.
- Prepare and monitor financial forecasts, budgets, and expenditures; coordinate variance data and allocations.
- Analyze management reports and performance utilizing trend analyses and data analytics to provide insights and identify efficiency opportunities.
- Manage the external financial statement audit.
- Drive continuous improvement throughout Finance in accounting activities.
- Perform a full range of managerial responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, coaching, developing employees, and performance management.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- At least six years of related accounting experience.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of general accounting functions and GAAP.
- Strong financial analysis skills at a leadership level.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to forecast and develop budgets.
- Strong computer literacy, especially experience with financial software systems (SAP preferred).
- Fluent in English and the primary language used in the area of responsibility and/or location.
Nice to Have
- CPA license.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
