As a Senior Localization Technical Program Manager, you will shape how multilingual content is delivered across a major open-source platform. You'll lead end-to-end localization cycles, ensuring timely, high-quality releases by aligning engineering, UX, and content teams with volunteer communities and language service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and expand localization programs, working closely with volunteer contributors to maintain sustainable, high-impact global delivery.
- Oversee the full release lifecycle for localized products, defining quality benchmarks, testing approaches, and prioritization of localization defects.
- Act as the central point for internal localization requests, coordinating scope, timelines, and execution with external vendors and platforms.
- Use data and technical insight to balance speed, quality, and resource constraints, making clear recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers and product teams to build features that support efficient localization and improve tooling and automation.
- Work effectively across regions and time zones, fostering alignment and trust with diverse internal teams and external contributors.
Qualifications
- Deep familiarity with software and web localization workflows, formats, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with translation management systems, computer-assisted translation tools, and online localization platforms.
- Proven track record localizing digital products at scale, with attention to quality, maintenance, and release cycles.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluency in a language other than English or strong understanding of linguistic diversity, including grammar, writing systems, and text direction.
- Ability to read source code to identify internationalization issues and work with developers on solutions.
- Proficiency with GitHub for code management and project tracking.
- Experience designing and automating workflows using scripting or technical tools to reduce manual effort.
- Self-directed with strong problem-solving skills, capable of independent decision-making in complex environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate across distributed teams and time zones, building consensus and driving results.
Preferred Experience
- Background in community-led or volunteer-based localization, especially in open-source or non-profit contexts.
- Working knowledge of Python and Bash for automating localization and release processes.
- Experience with issue and project tracking tools such as Bugzilla, Jira, or Trello to manage, prioritize, and report on localization tasks.
