Lead legal strategy in privacy, data protection, and artificial intelligence compliance for a global technology organization operating across Europe, the United States, and Latin America. This role is central to building and maintaining robust legal frameworks that support innovation while ensuring adherence to evolving regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage privacy programs, including internal training, policy development, and incident response coordination, with a focus on compliance under GDPR, CCPA, and other international data laws.
- Oversee intellectual property strategy—covering trademarks, copyrights, open-source compliance, and software licensing—with an emphasis on protecting digital assets and managing IP due diligence.
- Negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements, including master service agreements, statements of work, non-disclosure agreements, data processing addendums, and AI collaboration contracts.
- Work closely with product, engineering, and data science teams to embed legal and ethical standards into AI development and deployment processes.
- Advise on regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, contributing to long-term legal strategy and risk mitigation.
- Support corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships through legal analysis and documentation.
- Deliver practical, business-focused legal guidance to cross-functional teams in product, marketing, HR, and operations.
- Report directly to the General Counsel, assisting in shaping legal priorities and strengthening the internal legal function.
Qualifications
- LL.B. or J.D. from a recognized law school and admission to practice in Romania (Bucharest Bar) or a comparable jurisdiction.
- Minimum of five years of legal experience, combining law firm work in technology, privacy, or IP with in-house roles in tech-driven sectors such as software, gaming, digital media, or IT services.
- Proven expertise in global data protection laws, including GDPR and CCPA, with hands-on experience in data transfer mechanisms, consent frameworks, and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
- Strong background in managing IP portfolios, software licensing, content ownership, and advising on AI-related data use and model governance.
- Familiarity with emerging AI regulations, including the EU AI Act and national initiatives in the U.S. and UK, with the ability to assess legal and ethical risks in AI systems.
- Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate high-value commercial contracts across technology and service domains.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions, strategic alliances, and due diligence processes.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
Preferred Background
- Postgraduate legal education or international academic experience is advantageous.
