L'Oréal is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to lead, promote, coordinate, and monitor key pillars including Data Privacy, AI & IT, Digital/E-Commerce, and Risk & Compliance for L’Oréal Malaysia & Singapore.
What You'll Do
- Promote, coordinate and monitor data privacy compliance across the Entity.
- Support, coordinate and implement Data Privacy programs rolled out by Zone and Group.
- Conduct regular assessments of programs and projects within the Entity, ensuring resources are allocated to remediate identified gaps.
- Deliver training sessions on data privacy policies and procedures to internal teams.
- Partner with various functions (IT, Digital, Retail, Marketing, Operations, HR) to ensure data privacy compliance and robust implementation of privacy programs.
- Perform Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate any data privacy related issues in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor data privacy compliance across the Entity (e.g., periodic audits, data registers, contracts, consent management, data subject requests).
- Report regularly to the Management Committee on regulatory evolutions and risk exposure across the Entity.
- Provide strategic guidance on structuring, documenting and conducting due diligence for commercial activities to ensure business compliance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to establish and optimize compliant systems and processes.
- Update the Data Privacy & Compliance Community on the evolution of local regulations and compliance topics.
- Train and mentor Data Privacy Champions within the Entity.
- Facilitate and lead legal and compliance trainings for the Entity.
- Provide practical, actionable guidance and updates on Data Privacy and Compliance topics.
What We're Looking For
- A qualified lawyer with at least 10 years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
- Extensive experience managing legal compliance, data privacy, technology, digital/e-commerce laws and practices in Malaysia and Singapore.
- Able to coordinate among key stakeholders and manage relationships across multiple organizational levels.
- Strategic project management skills with focus on timely delivery.
- Comfortable engaging with and advising senior management.
- Exceptional analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Self-starting ‘can do’ attitude, excellent communications and time management skills.
- Growth and solution-driven mindset, open to exploring creative ways of working and embracing legal tech in daily operations.
- Able to work proactively with different stakeholders and initiate solutions.
- Strong awareness of online / digital / AI business trends with the ability to clarify processes for stakeholders.
Team & Environment
You will report to the General Counsel MYSG with functional reporting to the SAPMENA Zone DPO.
Work Mode
This is a local-country position based in Malaysia and Singapore.
