AECOM is hiring a Senior Hydraulic Modeling Engineer

About the Role

This position leads the development and application of hydraulic and hydrologic models for stormwater, wastewater, and water supply systems. The engineer will support project teams with technical expertise, data analysis, and modeling solutions across various stages of design and planning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and calibration of hydraulic and hydrologic models
  • Evaluate water system performance under varying conditions
  • Support design teams with modeling insights for infrastructure projects
  • Conduct stormwater runoff and flood risk analyses
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Collaborate with environmental and civil engineers on integrated projects
  • Ensure models comply with regulatory standards
  • Perform data collection and quality assurance for modeling inputs
  • Use GIS tools to support spatial analysis and model integration
  • Assist in the development of watershed management plans
  • Participate in client and stakeholder meetings
  • Review engineering designs for hydraulic feasibility
  • Troubleshoot model convergence and accuracy issues
  • Apply industry software such as SWMM, HEC-RAS, or InfoWorks
  • Support emergency response planning for flood events
  • Develop simulations for climate resilience and sea level rise
  • Integrate green infrastructure into modeling scenarios
  • Provide modeling support during construction and permitting phases
  • Train team members on modeling best practices
  • Stay current with advancements in hydraulic modeling techniques
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies on model submissions
  • Estimate project modeling effort and timelines
  • Validate models using observed field data
  • Contribute to proposals and technical scoping documents
  • Ensure consistency across modeling projects within the region
