Ethos is hiring a Senior Human Resources Manager

About the Role

Scout Motors is looking for a Senior Human Resources Manager to build out our human resources function and support our employees' career growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own employee relations end-to-end and drive consistency in performance management, hiring, and engagement.

What You'll Do

  • Own employee relations matters end-to-end, from candidate hiring and new hire training to performance management.
  • Organize and run annual and quarterly performance review cycles, including communications and completion tracking.
  • Partner with leadership to improve consistency across pay scales and internal alignment on job titles and levels.
  • Work with management to communicate performance improvement issues and develop constructive action plans.
  • Develop and lead reporting to senior management on key hiring and performance metrics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with candidates, ensuring efficient movement through the hiring process.
  • Coordinate corporate insurance policy administration, including renewals and employee classification accuracy.
  • Maintain all HR files and records, including offer letters and employment agreements.
  • Serve as the primary owner and administrator for our employee platform (Gusto) for data accuracy and day-to-day HR operations.
  • Coordinate payroll administration and resolve day-to-day payroll and tax-related issues.
  • Own benefits administration, including plan documentation, open enrollment, and serving as the point of contact for employee questions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive onboarding materials for a consistent new hire experience.
  • Partner closely with Finance to maintain inputs for SG&A planning, including forecasted hiring and compensation.
  • Serve as primary owner and administrator for our candidate tracking system (Greenhouse).
  • Improve and maintain HR templates for offer letters, employment agreements, and equity-related agreements.
  • Help maintain company culture and facilitate team connection through the planning of team-building events.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a business, sustainability, or related field.
  • 7+ years of HR/People Ops experience with strong exposure to employee relations, compliance, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to run performance review cycles and build practical manager-facing processes.
  • Experience owning HR systems and workflows (HRIS/payroll and ATS); comfort being the lead operator for all HR management functions.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and documentation skills; ability to coach leaders through sensitive issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and creativity.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in the United States.

  • Preference for candidates based in the Boulder/Denver or New York areas.
