Responsibilities
- Work in multidisciplinary teams to formulate conceptual site models and identify appropriate receptors for evaluation to site-specific human health risk assessments.
- Lead the selection of appropriate site-specific exposure parameters.
- Calculate carcinogenic risk and non-carcinogenic hazard in accordance with USEPA or state-specific protocols.
- Familiarity with USEPA lead models and vapor intrusion evaluations.
- Calculate population statistics of interest using Pro UCL software.
- Lead report preparation addressing risk assessment approach, findings, uncertainties, and recommendations.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff.
- Support internal clients such as project managers and team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in toxicology, public health, biology, or related scientific field.
- 12+ years of experience in an environmental consulting or government regulatory environment.
- Thorough understanding of USEPA Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund (RAGS) and supporting guidance.
- Understanding of CERCLA, RCRA, and state regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated quantitative experience calculating human health risk and hazard in accordance with (RAGS).
- Understanding of the basis for selection of exposure assumptions.
- Ability to clearly interpret and explain risk assessment tables in a technical report.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities, demonstrating professionalism and resourcefulness.
Nice to Have
- Masters degree in toxicology, public health, biology, or related scientific field.
- Knowledge of emerging contaminants including PFAS toxicity and assessment.
