Responsibilities
- Deliver technical leadership in the design, build, and integration of harness systems, serving as the subject matter expert on project teams
- Explore, plan, and execute harness designs that satisfy diverse engineering specifications
- Evaluate, choose, and source connectors, back-shells, contacts, wire types, shielding, and cable configurations to meet environmental demands
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to create system-level block diagrams and wiring schematics for manufacturing release
- Engage in design reviews to identify potential issues and influence engineering decisions
- Develop detailed assembly instructions and test protocols for harness systems, following industry standards and best practices
- Guide electrical teams in defining system requirements based on inputs from cross-functional groups including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, product management, quality, and compliance
- Verify that harness designs comply with overall electrical system needs such as voltage, current, bandwidth, redundancy, and EMI/EMC performance
- Conduct trade analyses for wire sizing, shielding methods, connector types, and system topology
- Assess and reduce electrical risks including voltage drop, crosstalk, EMI vulnerability, and thermal impacts
- Operate in a dynamic setting supporting new product development, field deployments, and customer-used hardware
