Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design teams to implement intuitive player actions, interactive objects, and core gameplay systems.
- Integrate features into the build quickly to enable rapid testing and iteration.
- Develop and refine real-time gameplay mechanics centered on characters, actions, and abilities, including control schemes, camera behavior, and character powers.
- Apply strong understanding of player experience to shape satisfying and predictable game interactions.
- Utilize physics systems effectively to deliver enjoyable and understandable gameplay responses.
- Ensure gameplay and networked systems perform reliably and feel responsive under typical internet conditions.
- Design gameplay systems with an online-first mindset, incorporating client-side prediction for smoother interactions.
- Evaluate technical constraints such as latency effects and data usage when implementing networked features.
- Engage with designers, artists, and engineers to define feature scope and begin development promptly.
- Translate conceptual ideas into functional, polished gameplay implementations.
- Prioritize timely delivery by integrating work into the build early and recognizing acceptable completion thresholds.
- Proactively address delays or ambiguities that threaten feature progress.
- Collaborate with artists to integrate visual effects and character animations into gameplay systems.
- Assist level designers by supporting and refining their development workflows.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in both gameplay functionality and the build pipeline.
