About the Role
The role involves creating high-quality 3D environments that align with the game’s artistic vision and technical standards, working closely with design and engineering teams to deliver polished, interactive worlds.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models and textures for indoor and outdoor game settings
- Optimize environment assets for performance across target platforms
- Collaborate with level designers to ensure cohesive layout and gameplay flow
- Implement assets into the game engine using proprietary tools
- Maintain visual consistency with the project’s art direction
- Create concept sketches and mood boards for environment themes
- Produce modular assets to support efficient level construction
- Refine lighting and atmosphere to enhance mood and immersion
- Work within established technical constraints and memory budgets
- Iterate on feedback from leads and team members
- Support environment testing to identify visual or functional issues
- Document asset pipelines and best practices
- Assist in establishing art standards for environment production
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to rendering or performance
- Participate in regular art reviews and critiques
- Integrate environmental storytelling elements into level design
- Use PBR workflows to achieve realistic surface rendering
- Collaborate with animation and VFX teams for interactive elements
- Ensure assets meet accessibility and localization requirements
- Adapt environments for different gameplay modes or difficulty levels
- Maintain organized file structures and naming conventions
- Stay current with industry tools and techniques
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and onboarding
- Support optimization for console, PC, and mobile platforms
- Assist in building procedural environment systems when needed
Nice to Have
- Experience shipping a AAA game title
- Knowledge of procedural modeling tools like Houdini
- Experience with virtual reality environments
- Background in cinematic or film VFX
- Familiarity with AI-driven content generation tools
- Experience mentoring junior artists
- Understanding of cultural design influences in worldbuilding
- Worked on open-world or persistent game environments
- Experience with dynamic lighting systems
- Knowledge of environmental animation systems
