AECOM is looking for a Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist to drive the growth of our fluvial geomorphology practice area across Canada. You will join a global team of over 50,000 professionals, working closely with geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, and ecologists to deliver impactful stream restoration projects.
What You'll Do
- Utilize scientific principles and theories to develop solutions for defined technical problems.
- Collect, enter, interpret, and record data, ensuring compliance with relevant studies and local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Lead Natural Channel Design and stream restoration projects, completing assessments on existing and proposed conditions.
- Conduct detailed field investigations and assessments, including sediment transport and scour analysis.
- Analyze and interpret geomorphic and hydraulic data.
- Write and review technical reports.
- Collaborate across offices and disciplines in Canada, and participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., geomorphology, river engineering, earth science).
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
- Familiarity with GIS and CAD software.
- Knowledge of fluvial form, processes, and functions, including their dependence on local physiography and influence on ecological habitats.
- Experience with river and stream channel hydraulics and channel stability analysis.
- Experience in environmental data collection, identification, investigation, data entry, and assessments.
- Experience developing stream restoration and enhancement recommendations.
- Ability to travel, including to remote areas, and efficiently conduct fieldwork.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree specializing in fluvial geomorphology.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Familiarity with Natural Channel Design approaches, from concept development through detailed design, construction implementation, and monitoring.
- Experience using GIS and hydraulic modeling applications for study design and data analysis.
- Geohazard mapping and slope stability analysis experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with proposal writing and/or project management.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage personal project workload and meet deadlines.
- Eligibility for professional registration (P.Geo. and/or P.Eng.).
