Aurecon is hiring a Senior Flood Engineer, Water Resources

About the Role

Shape the future of water resilience as a Senior Flood Engineer with a leading engineering team in Sydney or Newcastle. You'll lead hydrological and hydraulic investigations for critical infrastructure in transport, land development, water, dams, and energy sectors, ensuring communities are built to withstand future flood risks.

What You'll Do

  • Lead flood modelling and assessment projects using industry-standard tools including TUFLOW, RORB, WBNM, and XP-RAFTS
  • Deliver robust technical outcomes within budget, schedule, and quality expectations
  • Collaborate with internal specialists and external stakeholders, including public authorities and clients
  • Mentor early-career engineers and contribute to a culture of learning and growth
  • Apply the latest Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019 guidelines to real-world challenges
  • Support innovation by exploring emerging technologies and improved engineering practices

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • At least five years of professional experience in flood modelling and hydrology
  • Proficiency in GIS platforms such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or MapInfo
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex results into clear insights
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing technical workstreams
