About the Role
The selected candidate will lead fire protection engineering efforts, performing system design, code analysis, and technical reviews for new and existing structures. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, attention to regulatory detail, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of fire suppression and detection system designs
- Conduct code compliance assessments based on local and national standards
- Perform calculations for water supply, hydraulic demand, and system coverage
- Review building plans to identify fire safety requirements
- Prepare technical specifications and construction documentation
- Support project managers with engineering input during design phases
- Evaluate existing fire protection systems for performance and code adherence
- Collaborate with architects and mechanical engineers on integrated designs
- Conduct site inspections and field assessments
- Assist in the selection of fire protection equipment and components
- Develop fire safety strategies for high-risk or specialized facilities
- Participate in design review meetings and client presentations
- Ensure designs meet applicable NFPA, IBC, and FM Global standards
- Manage engineering tasks within schedule and budget constraints
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff
- Prepare reports documenting system evaluations and recommendations
- Support commissioning and testing of installed fire protection systems
- Respond to requests for information during construction
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire protection codes and technologies
- Use engineering software for modeling and system analysis
