PG&E is hiring a Senior Welding Engineer to serve as a company-wide subject matter expert. You will provide welding engineering consulting services and support to various internal organizations, focusing on compliance, procedure development, and technical project management.
What You'll Do
- Support the maintenance and management of welding programs for Diablo Canyon nuclear facility, fossil/hydro-generation, and gas operations.
- Update and revise company procedures to ensure compliance with the latest codes and standards, developing new procedures as required.
- Develop and qualify welding procedures for various programs and project applications.
- Provide technical support for welding activities on new equipment installation, repair, replacement, and fitness-for-service assessments.
- Support welding procedure and weld repair development for piping, penstock, runners, and similar components in fossil and hydro-generation.
- Work with internal clients to develop and implement new welding technology for power plant, gas transmission, and substation components.
- Manage and coordinate small and large welding and inspection-related projects for power generation and gas/electric distribution and transmission.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and proposals for field projects and development work.
- Provide welding consulting services to internal and external clients.
- Support the review, revision, and development of company procedures and standards.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with emphasis in a discipline related to assignments (e.g., mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering).
- At least 5 years of related professional experience.
Nice to Have
- Double major in Welding Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working at licensed nuclear facilities, fossil/hydro generation power plants, or gas transmission pipelines.
- Experience developing and qualifying welding procedures, performing welder qualifications, and managing a company welding program.
- Familiarity with common NDE methods, including VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT.
- Knowledge of common arc welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), brazing, and soldering.

This is an individual contributor role.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $122,000 - $194,000.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located in Danville or San Ramon.
