GE Energy Power Conversion UK Limited is hiring a Senior Engineer - Integrated Plant Design to play a leadership role within GE Hitachi’s Plant Systems Integration teams. You will focus on developing new advanced nuclear reactor projects, including Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and Sodium Fast Reactors (SFR), by supporting conceptual and detailed design, implementing licensing requirements, and driving project delivery.
What You'll Do
- Perform Plant Integration Engineering activities for the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor.
- Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, mentor team members, and act as a key liaison with internal and external customers.
- Conduct component and system integration to optimize plant performance, operability, and design-to-cost.
- Manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.
- Drive identification of verification and validation requirements at the plant, system, and component level.
- Define plant-level design requirements for systems, components, subcontractors, and partner teams.
- Manage interfaces between systems, components, and project/product management organizations.
- Develop specialized knowledge in your discipline, serve as a best practice resource, and contribute to strategy development.
- Use judgment and technical experience to solve moderately complex tasks and support data-driven recommendations.
- Act as a resource for colleagues, potentially lead small projects, explain complex information, and build consensus.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
- Ability to obtain authorization from the U.S. Government to access export-controlled information.
Nice to Have
- Masters or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).
- Experience with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island, and BOP plant systems and associated safety analysis design bases.
- Experience as a Senior Reactor Operator at a nuclear power plant, especially in multiple roles like on-shift, outage prep, work control, or training.
- 10+ years of commercial nuclear engineering experience in Design, Licensing, PRA, or Systems -OR- 10+ years of shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience.
- Experience developing or working with Instrument & Controls.
- Requirements Management experience using DOORs or a similar tool.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing and design bases, and transient and accident analysis.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Relocation to Wilmington, NC is strongly desired.
