About the Role
The role involves leading the design and implementation of electrical systems in mission-critical data center environments, providing technical expertise across project phases from concept to construction.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of electrical designs for high-availability data center facilities
- Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications for power distribution systems
- Perform load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, including NFPA, IEEE, and local regulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated project delivery
- Review contractor submittals and provide technical guidance during construction
- Support project management with scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning
- Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and compliance
- Develop single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, and wiring schematics
- Evaluate and select electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and UPS systems
- Integrate redundancy and fault-tolerant design principles into power systems
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to understand technical requirements
- Prepare technical reports and design documentation for review
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight
- Apply sustainable design practices to reduce energy consumption
- Work with commissioning teams to validate system performance
- Ensure electromagnetic compatibility and grounding integrity
- Address constructability and maintainability in design decisions
- Stay current with advancements in data center power technologies
- Support risk assessment and reliability analysis for critical systems
- Interface with external consultants and utility providers
- Manage design changes through formal documentation processes
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards
- Participate in design review meetings and client presentations
