AECOM is hiring a Senior Engineer - Electrical, Data Center

About the Role

The role involves leading the design and implementation of electrical systems in mission-critical data center environments, providing technical expertise across project phases from concept to construction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of electrical designs for high-availability data center facilities
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications for power distribution systems
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, including NFPA, IEEE, and local regulations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated project delivery
  • Review contractor submittals and provide technical guidance during construction
  • Support project management with scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning
  • Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and compliance
  • Develop single-line diagrams, equipment schedules, and wiring schematics
  • Evaluate and select electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and UPS systems
  • Integrate redundancy and fault-tolerant design principles into power systems
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to understand technical requirements
  • Prepare technical reports and design documentation for review
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight
  • Apply sustainable design practices to reduce energy consumption
  • Work with commissioning teams to validate system performance
  • Ensure electromagnetic compatibility and grounding integrity
  • Address constructability and maintainability in design decisions
  • Stay current with advancements in data center power technologies
  • Support risk assessment and reliability analysis for critical systems
  • Interface with external consultants and utility providers
  • Manage design changes through formal documentation processes
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards
  • Participate in design review meetings and client presentations
