CIMA+ is hiring a Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer

About the Role

Lead the engineering and design of overhead and underground electrical distribution networks up to 44 kV as a Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer. This position plays a central role in advancing energy infrastructure projects from initial planning through to commissioning, ensuring technical accuracy, safety, and adherence to client and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct engineering efforts for distribution systems, overseeing design development and technical documentation
  • Evaluate and authorize construction drawings, material lists, calculations, and project deliverables
  • Collaborate with utilities, municipal authorities, clients, and contractors to define project scope and technical criteria
  • Address complex field and design challenges using sound engineering principles
  • Support end-to-end project execution, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support long-term project success
  • Guide and develop junior engineers and design teams, contributing to internal knowledge sharing and best practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve design methods, workflows, and engineering standards

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario
  • Proven experience in leading electrical distribution design for utility-scale overhead and underground systems
  • Strong technical background in systems up to 44 kV, including poles, conductors, duct banks, transformers, vaults, and high-voltage cabling
  • Demonstrated ability to manage design reviews and approve engineering deliverables
  • Experience working with public and private sector stakeholders in energy infrastructure
  • Track record of delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to required quality benchmarks
  • Commitment to mentoring emerging engineering talent

Preferred Background

  • Interest or experience in progressing toward project leadership or management roles
  • Exposure to renewable energy integration or energy transition initiatives
  • Familiarity with client-specific standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices in electrical infrastructure

Work Environment

This role operates within a hybrid model, requiring approximately two days per week in the office at either the Mississauga or Kitchener location.
