About the Role
This position blends expert teaching knowledge with digital product development to create effective, research-backed English language arts instruction for grades 3–6, centered on a virtual teaching assistant.
Responsibilities
- Create rigorous and engaging content in English/Language Arts for upper elementary grades
- Design instructional methods, lessons, exercises, and assessments from scratch
- Structure lesson flow based on cognitive development and prerequisite skills
- Identify frequent student errors and design interventions to address them
- Use reading science to ensure instructional materials are evidence-based and meet standards
- Utilize established content frameworks to build effective digital learning experiences
- Work alongside designers, scientists, engineers, and subject matter experts to develop the virtual instructor
- Incorporate motivational psychology into lesson design
- Partner with product and engineering teams to implement instructional goals in digital format
- Apply cognitive load theory, pacing strategies, mastery learning, and misconception analysis
- Build scaffolded learning experiences that center the student
- Use artificial intelligence and generative AI tools to enhance content development
- Review and improve AI-generated content for accuracy and age-appropriateness
- Ensure high consistency and quality across a large volume of instructional modules
- Develop systems for efficiently producing hundreds of learning units
- Convert real classroom teaching insights into effective digital instruction
