Lead and shape design management across UK-based and international projects, ensuring high standards of quality, compliance, and financial accountability. This role is central to coordinating design processes, managing sub-consultant engagement, and maintaining alignment with project delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full design management lifecycle, from planning and scheduling to delivery and review, ensuring outputs meet technical and contractual requirements
- Develop and maintain responsibility matrices to clearly define sub-consultant scope and accountability across project phases
- Prepare, distribute, and manage back-to-back contracts with sub-consultants, ensuring full coverage of deliverables and timely updates to agreements
- Monitor invoicing workflows by establishing clear procedures, tracking submissions, and compiling monthly financial reports for accurate cash flow forecasting
- Implement structured design management procedures including scope delineation, progress reporting, quality assurance, budget control, and change management
- Coordinate design workshops, project meetings, and approval workflows to maintain alignment across multidisciplinary teams
- Support team development through mentoring, performance reviews, and training initiatives for junior design management staff
- Ensure adherence to internal financial systems and achieve required project management accreditations
- Review all team outputs prior to submission to verify accuracy, compliance, and consistency with client agreements
