Responsibilities
- Advise on corporate and nonprofit legal matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements
- Support compliance with federal and state regulations
- Provide legal guidance on international grantmaking
- Collaborate with internal teams on risk management
- Interpret laws and regulations affecting philanthropy
- Assist in structuring charitable vehicles
- Monitor changes in relevant legal frameworks
- Lead due diligence for philanthropic partnerships
- Respond to legal inquiries from program staff
- Ensure adherence to tax-exempt organization rules
- Manage legal aspects of remote operations
- Support board governance and fiduciary responsibilities
- Evaluate legal risks in cross-border initiatives
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nonprofit law
- Participate in organizational policy development
- Guide data privacy and information security compliance
- Oversee intellectual property considerations
- Assist in crisis response and legal contingency planning
- Coordinate with external counsel when necessary
