Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Senior Coder - Outpatient. You will perform thorough medical record reviews to abstract medical and demographic data, accurately interpreting and applying diagnoses and procedures using ICD and CPT coding systems. Your work will directly assist in decreasing the average accounts receivable days for the organization.
What You'll Do
- Review and interpret medical information, physician treatment plans, and outcomes to determine appropriate ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
- Abstract data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enter all coded information into the designated system.
- Ensure efficient management of medical information and cash flow as it pertains to the unbilled coding report.
- Keep informed of changes and updates in ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines by attending training and reviewing resources.
- Act as a mentor and subject matter expert to other coding staff.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or GED.
- 5 years of Hospital and/or Physician Coding experience.
- 1 year of Coding experience across all specialties and service lines.
- Extensive knowledge in Trauma, Teaching, and Observation guidelines.
- Successful completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- One of the following certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Associate (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).
Nice to Have
- An Associate's Degree.

- Compensation range: $23.03 - $35.70 per hour.
