Medtronic seeks a Senior Clinical Specialist, Pain Interventions based in Tacoma, WA. In this field-based role, you will support our Neuromodulation Pain, Target Drug Delivery, and Interventional Therapies by providing clinical coverage across the territory. You will be a critical partner ensuring optimal patient outcomes through surgical support, troubleshooting, and education.
What You'll Do
- Represent Medtronic as a device specialist during surgical procedures, providing technical support, device selection, programming, and testing.
- Manage patients through all clinical phases and educate them on product features and benefits.
- Provide clinical support in surgeries, re-programmings, troubleshooting, and follow-ups in hospitals and clinics.
- Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products and therapies.
- Respond promptly and professionally to device-related inquiries from customers and patients.
- Adhere to company policies and complete required event reporting and documentation using Medtronic technology tools.
- Manage inventory for case coverage, including timely transactions, cycle count accuracy, and product retrievals.
- Contribute to achieving quarterly goals by partnering with colleagues and communicating with leadership.
- Maintain a working knowledge of competitive products and regularly visit accounts to establish relationships.
- Place orders with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement.
- Ensure personal understanding of all applicable quality policies and system items.
- Assist Management and Sales Training in the education and training of new employees.
- Effectively utilize Excel, a mobile phone, an IPAD, a laptop, and/or a Samsung tablet.
- Manage business expenses and budget effectively.
- Function as a clinical leader within the territory and district, demonstrating autonomy and expert clinical acumen.
- Act as a key contact for complex case coverage and troubleshooting.
- Participate in territory business planning and align activities to support sales objectives.
- Act as a field trainer and mentor Associate Clinical Specialists and Clinical Specialists.
- Complete all new hire therapy trainings and corporate compliance training.
- Travel to cover district cases as needed.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 8 years of clinical or medical sales experience; OR
- Associate Degree with a minimum of 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience.
- Valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
- Ability to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts.
- Required to function using healthcare universal precautions.
- Ability to serve as primary resource for clinical events, work weekends/evenings/nights, and engage in overnight travel.
- Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with little direction outside of clinical events.
- Ability to attend national meetings, district meetings, and other training.
- Ability to wear a 7-9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8+ hours per day.
- Ability to bend/stoop, squat and balance frequently.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in a health care related field.
- Master’s degree.
- Registered nurse or HCP with experience in a sterile environment.
- Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care.
- Experience in servicing medical personnel on product use.
- Experience with a medical device or pharmaceutical company, and clinical experience in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, operating room, pain management, or home health care.
- Understands basic reimbursement and healthcare environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
