Responsibilities
- Lead aviation and airfield engineering initiatives from initial planning through final delivery, providing strategic and technical direction.
- Develop construction documents, technical specifications, contracts, and specialized reports compliant with FAA, TxDOT, and client standards.
- Define project scope clearly, create detailed cost estimates, and manage budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure on-time project execution.
- Track project progress using earned value analysis, milestone reviews, and forecasting methods to detect risks and apply corrective actions.
- Maintain high-quality outputs by following established quality assurance procedures and adhering to engineering codes, FAA guidelines, and industry best practices for airfield design.
- Conduct project kickoffs, design reviews, coordination meetings, and internal sessions to align team members and stakeholders.
- Generate and present accurate monthly billing, financial summaries, and Project Status Reports highlighting progress, challenges, and next steps.
- Mentor and supervise junior engineers and designers, fostering skill development and enhancing technical capacity within the aviation team.
- Act as the main liaison for airport authorities, TxDOT, and other key stakeholders during all project phases.
- Organize and manage meetings, prepare agendas and schedules, record outcomes, and ensure timely and clear communication across parties.
- Cultivate strong client relationships through consistent responsiveness, proactive communication, and reliable follow-through.
- Evaluate client-supplied materials such as as-built drawings and previous engineering studies.
- Collaborate with external consultants for surveying, geotechnical work, environmental assessments, and other specialized services.
- Ensure all project records meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including FAA funding rules, environmental compliance, and permitting.
- Oversee the bidding process, including pre-bid meetings, addenda distribution, contractor questions, and bid evaluation.
- Support construction activities via site inspections, change order reviews, contractor coordination, and field oversight to maintain design integrity.
- Review and approve final design drawings, prepare cost summaries, and join final walkthroughs with TxDOT and clients.
- Deliver complete close-out documentation in line with client and regulatory expectations.
- Lead integrated teams—both internal and external—throughout project implementation.
- Identify new business opportunities during proposal development, RFP responses, and ongoing client interactions.
- Collaborate with leadership to assess client satisfaction, manage project risks, and contribute to the financial performance of the aviation division.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to entry-level and mid-level staff.

Compensation
