A Better 9 to 5 is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer to take charge of the technical completion of complex site development projects across local, regional, and national levels. In this role, you will be pivotal in leading large-scale, multi-disciplinary efforts and guiding our team through the full project lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Handle the technical completion of civil engineering site development projects and related work activities.
- Define scope, conduct feasibility studies, and develop design proposals, narratives, and formal engineering reports.
- Perform specification review, design calculations, system modeling, and review geotechnical reports and site surveys.
- Lead client review meetings, city development meetings, and document all formal meetings and site construction observations.
- Answer construction and bid requests for information.
- Collaborate with in-house and remote teams.
- Lead large multi-million-dollar, multi-discipline projects as the Civil Discipline Lead.
- Provide oversight of numerous smaller projects while providing direction and mentoring to civil designers and technicians.
What We're Looking For
- Must hold valid PE licenses; Professional Engineers with licenses in multiple states are preferred.
- A background in civil engineering with 5-10 years of civil design experience.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3-D software.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare proposals for projects, including estimating fees.
- Ability to accommodate overnight travel by car and by air.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and potential clients.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Federal Facility Criteria – Whole Building Design Guide.
- Familiarity with current design trends and local codes.
- Familiarity with industry standards for illustration of civil and design.
