Parsons Transportation Group is hiring a Senior Bridge Engineer - Transportation Infrastructure

About the Role

Parsons Transportation Group is looking for a Senior or Principal Bridge Engineer to join its Pacific Northwest bridge practice. You will support major transportation infrastructure projects throughout Oregon, Washington, and beyond, leading challenging structural assignments including bridge rehabilitation, seismic retrofit, and new bridge design for clients like ODOT and WSDOT. The position may be fully remote in Oregon or Southwest Washington, with a preference for Portland Metro Area candidates.

What You'll Do

  • Perform complex engineering tasks and important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
  • May be assigned as a lead bridge/structural engineer on small to intermediate size projects.
  • Extract engineering information from CAD drawings and prepare computations, quantity takeoffs, estimates, and designs.
  • Complete assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction.
  • Interface frequently with other Engineering disciplines and departments.
  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers.
  • Supervise plan production for entire small-scale projects and contribute to plan production for more complex projects.
  • May provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering-related matters.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
  • 8 years or more of bridge design and/or rehabilitation experience for transportation systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.

Nice to Have

  • PE registration in Oregon or Washington, or ability to obtain through comity.
  • Experience with Oregon and Washington transportation agency standards and practices.
  • Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and industry-standard bridge design analysis software.
  • Understanding of seismic design principles, codes, and specific ODOT and WSDOT requirements.
  • Familiarity with bridge load rating, inspection data review, and preservation strategy development.
