Roche is looking for a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join our team in Pleasanton, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays, including troubleshooting to ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity. You will work closely with bioinformatics scientists, wet lab scientists, and other stakeholders to implement and support tools and workflows for assay development, while also developing and maintaining algorithms and internal tools that support process optimization.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays, including troubleshooting to ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity across various stages of the development process.
- Work closely with bioinformatics scientists, wet lab scientists, and other stakeholders to implement and support tools and workflows for assay development.
- Develop and maintain algorithms and internal tools that support the optimization and improvement of assay design processes.
- Perform data analysis for assay validation, ensuring accuracy in interpretation and providing actionable insights to improve outcomes.
- Document research processes, findings, and results in detailed reports for internal review and regulatory compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on new tools, processes, and methodologies related to assay development.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in the job offered or a related position.
- Professional or academic experience utilizing multiple machine learning tools for developing models, including Markov models, hierarchical clustering, k-means clustering, logistic regression, random forests, and SVMs.
- Professional or academic experience utilizing neural networks using frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and PySpark.
- Professional or academic experience developing computational pipelines using large sequencing datasets in python and bash using platforms including snakemake.
- Professional or academic experience with PCR and ELISA data analysis.
- Professional or academic experience conducting homology analysis with BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) Analysis and designing primers.
- Professional or academic experience with project and inventory management.
- Expertise in programming languages such as R and Python, particularly in a distributed HPC Linux environment.
- Professional or academic experience managing genetic data storage and retrieval using platforms including Galaxy.
- Professional or academic experience visualizing data using R, UGENE, and Geneious.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS and Microsoft Azure.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range of $137,544 to $182,400 per year.
