As a Senior Data Scientist, you will design and implement data-driven solutions that directly influence business strategy and operations within the Individual Life Insurance domain. You'll take ownership of the full model lifecycle—from exploratory analysis and algorithm development to testing and integration—ensuring models are robust, interpretable, and aligned with real-world use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate machine learning models using advanced statistical and computational techniques to solve complex business challenges.
- Write scalable, production-ready code and work closely with machine learning engineers to transition prototypes into live systems.
- Collaborate with data engineers to design efficient pipelines that support model training and inference at scale.
- Integrate analytical solutions with enterprise platforms through coordination with software engineering teams.
- Stay current with emerging methodologies in artificial intelligence, including generative models, natural language processing, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures.
- Apply deep learning, ensemble methods, and probabilistic modeling techniques using tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, and Scikit-learn.
- Extract, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data from diverse sources using SQL, Python, and API integrations.
- Apply multivariate calculus, linear algebra, and statistical inference to refine model design and interpretation.
Qualifications
You bring an advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering, and have demonstrated experience solving complex analytical problems. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with hands-on experience in cloud environments—particularly AWS. Familiarity with vector databases, LangChain, and graph-based workflows is highly valued. You are comfortable navigating the full development lifecycle, from concept through deployment, and thrive in collaborative, cross-functional settings.
Work Environment
This position follows a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of three days per week on-site in Newark, NJ. You will work alongside actuaries, data scientists, and engineers in an agile, innovation-focused culture that emphasizes continuous learning and measurable impact.
