General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is hiring a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to lead the modernization of the Delivery Operations Information System (DOIS) for the United States Postal Service (USPS). You will design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure, applying AI tools for automation and following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices.
What You'll Do
- Design, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as AWS Transform, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), and AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Utilize AI tools like GitHub Copilot to generate code, automate cloud infrastructure tasks, and optimize performance.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation to ensure consistent and reliable deployments.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimization of cloud resources.
- Monitor and maintain cloud environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of the DOIS system.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with USPS’s security policies, data governance, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, configuration scripts, and operational procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for cloud-related issues and incidents.
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end reporting solutions, leveraging full stack developer skills to integrate front-end visualization tools with back-end data processing and storage systems.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on AWS.
- Experience with AI tools, particularly GitHub Copilot, for cloud infrastructure management.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and systems administration in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud services, automation tools, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and pass a thorough Government background screening process.
- U.S. residency requirement: Must have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
- AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer).
- Experience in a USPS environment or similar federal IT projects.
- Certification in cloud technologies (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
- Experience with Version One Agile Lifecycle Management Tool.
