This position acts as the key scientific contact for experts in diabetes and obesity within the Groningen/Friesland area, facilitating two-way exchange of clinical data with healthcare providers. The role supports research initiatives and strategic medical objectives through regular field interactions. Incumbents will deliver scientific updates, support local education efforts, and maintain deep therapeutic expertise. The position operates primarily outside the office, with strong emphasis on in-person engagement and collaboration with internal teams and external specialists.
Responsibilities
- Engage with key clinical and scientific experts to exchange medical insights and support research initiatives
- Develop and deliver local and national medical education initiatives for healthcare professionals
- Communicate scientific data to specialists including internists, diabetologists, and gastroenterologists
- Deliver scientific presentations at hospitals and medical institutions
- Spend the majority of time in the field, with over 80% of work conducted through direct interaction with healthcare providers
- Train sales and market access teams on therapeutic area knowledge and medical messaging
- Support local brand teams by providing medical insights and account-specific intelligence
- Maintain up-to-date expertise in medical and scientific developments within the cardiometabolic field
Requirements
- Advanced degree in a health-related field such as PharmD, MD, or PhD in a medically relevant discipline
- Demonstrated scientific knowledge and interest in diabetes and its treatment options
- Demonstrated scientific knowledge and interest in obesity and its treatment options
- Fluent written and spoken proficiency in both Dutch and English
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with proven presentation skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain professional networks in the healthcare sector
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
- Strong desire to continuously learn and expand scientific knowledge
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to healthcare provider needs
Nice to Have
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in clinical, research, or industry roles within the therapeutic area
- Holders of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in health sciences may qualify with five or more years of relevant experience in clinical, research, or medical roles
- Prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a comparable role within the pharmaceutical industry
- Established network of healthcare professionals in diabetes and obesity fields
- Demonstrable scientific work experience specifically in diabetes and obesity
