Acuity-CHS is looking for a Senior Accountant to provide advanced accounting support by performing complex reconciliations, account analysis, and journal entries. In this remote position, you will ensure the integrity of financial information and compliance with GAAP, FAR, and company policies.
What You'll Do
- Ensure accounting integrity by recording, verifying, reconciling, and consolidating transactions and maintaining supporting schedules.
- Prepare and record assets, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Support period-end, quarterly, and year-end closing with accurate, timely transaction recording.
- Support and improve the system of internal controls.
- Maintain account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies between supporting documentation and the general ledger.
- Analyze and report on accounting variances.
- Interface with management, colleagues, and auditors regarding accounting reports and analysis.
- Perform research on various accounting topics as needed.
- Develop and maintain work instructions for new and existing processes.
- Demonstrate discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Review the work of other accountants and guide staff through knowledge sharing.
- Provide backup support for other accounting team members.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience at a similar level.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to communicate policies and practices with senior executives, vendors, contractors, and employees.
- Ability to transform voluminous data into easy-to-understand reports.
- Proven skill in following detailed oral or written instructions.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Able to work with a process improvement mindset in a changing environment.
- Ability to work outside standard hours at short notice when dictated by workload.
- Advanced user of Excel, including graphics, pivot tables, V Lookups, and downloading external data.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of government contractor accounting and multi-currency environments.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
- Experience with the Deltek Costpoint accounting system.
