Valvoline Global Operations is looking for a Senior Accountant to support accurate and timely accounting operations and financial reporting for Valvoline’s consolidated entities. This role plays a key part in the monthly close, ensuring data integrity and compliance across the global organization.
What You'll Do
- Perform journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Analyze variances and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the consolidation of global entities and preparation of financial reports.
- Prepare internal financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare quarterly and annual stand-alone financials for review and audit.
- Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Support internal and external audit requests and implement recommendations.
- Research specific uncertain accounting issues and document Valvoline’s considerations and accounting treatment conclusion.
- Manage internal accounting policies and provide supporting documentation.
- Maintain documentation and execution of key SOX/ICFR controls.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to automation initiatives.
- Support system enhancements and financial tools implementation.
- Collaborate with commercial finance, supply chain, and other teams to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Assist in accounting for intercompany transactions, joint ventures, and new business initiatives.
- Act as a resource for junior team members by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Support the Accounting Manager in special projects and ad hoc analyses.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant accounting experience in corporate or public accounting.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and financial close tools (e.g., Blackline).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting platforms.
- Self-motivated with a collaborative and solution-oriented approach.
- Technical Accounting Proficiency with a strong foundation in accounting principles to ensure accurate and compliant reporting.
Nice to Have
- CPA certification preferred or actively pursuing.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
