Responsibilities
- Implement Debmarine Namibia Security’s strategy to maximise the protection of mineral resources, products and company assets according to the Namibian Diamond Act 13 of 1999.
- Facilitate a fully integrated security system at Debmarine Namibia.
- Monitor the effectiveness and relevance of protection and security systems.
- Coordinate the gathering of intelligence of both national and international significance pertaining to the environment in which Debmarine Namibia and De Beers operates, and which potentially impacts on the strategic direction of the company's business operations, protection of resources and interests at large, and report this to senior management.
- Manage and facilitate across discipline risk management projects to increase the scope and nature of security protection.
- Review and adjust the security strategy on an ongoing basis to ensure departmental effectiveness is within the business context and the protection of company resources, departmental budgeting, long-term planning, and policy development.
- Define, coordinate and audit the company protection initiatives and interventions across all departments and ensure the incorporation of relevant measures into business processes.
- Implement new knowledge/information by keeping abreast of developments in the field of responsibility and assessing applicability to De Beers operations.
- Use expertise to introduce systems which enhance the effectiveness of the Section.
- Adhere to and promote Company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and environmental issues.
- Take action when an incident occurs by ensuring that the incident is preliminary investigated to establish the facts, secure evidence and enable timely corrective and preventative action.
- Report findings and recommendations in consultation with the Security Superintendent Investigations to ensure alignment, enable informed decision making, and drive appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
- Manage and control subordinates for optimum utilisation by setting individual and team goals to support departmental objectives.
- Direct subordinates to achieve individual and team objectives.
- Assess subordinate performance and implement corrective measures where necessary.
- Identify and address training needs.
- Provide mentorship as required.
- Develop and implement career and succession plans to increase section and individual effectiveness.
- Act as Company Security Officer responsible for Marine Security and the ISPS Code to ensure regulatory compliance, effective risk management and the protection of vessels, crew and Company assets.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagements to ensure ISPS compliance.
