Responsibilities
- Promote and uphold safety and health standards in all team activities, ensuring personal and collective accountability to achieve zero harm and prevent fatalities.
- Demonstrate leadership by fostering a culture where safety and health are top priorities across the site.
- Enable on-site personnel to speak up about unsafe behaviors without fear of consequences.
- Gather and summarize site-specific hazards and establish mitigation plans or systems to prevent incidents.
- Evaluate the significance of critical risks and track how well key controls are working in the assigned area.
- Recognize potential unplanned events (PUEs) and oversee the performance of critical controls within teams.
- Integrate critical safety controls into everyday operational routines.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of safety and health systems in the work zone.
- Evaluate the safety leadership skills of direct subordinates.
- Assess team members' readiness for duty and take appropriate follow-up actions when needed.
- Conduct physical safety inspections, interventions, and coaching sessions.
- Produce safety reports and analyze safety KPIs using available data.
- Identify shortcomings in safety practices and develop action plans to resolve them.
- Lead ongoing safety audits to verify compliance with all safety requirements.
- Assist with site inductions and support visits by internal and external parties to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Actively participate in values-focused leadership sessions, risk assessments, and closure of safety actions.
- Enforce metallurgical and operational standards, detect deviations, suggest corrections, and help update procedures based on lessons learned.
- Contribute technical insights to short- and medium-term operational planning, including constraints, risks, opportunities, and required actions.
- Identify and justify essential capital investments by preparing technical justifications, evaluating options, defining preliminary scopes, and providing supporting data.
- Deliver specialized technical support for operations and projects within the DSO and DMS plant domains.
- Monitor and improve customer satisfaction metrics.
- Ensure production throughput targets are met.
- Maintain compliance with product quality specifications.
- Serve as a subject matter expert by creating and executing a metallurgical strategy for the assigned area.
- Ensure adherence to established process standards.
