The Trustees of Reservations is hiring a Seasonal Nature Educator

Responsibilities

  • Leading a group of 20-25 campers along with YMCA counselors on daily two-hour nature hikes and exploratory activities
  • Assist with designing and implementing camp curriculum and activities based on weekly themes
  • Plan daily developmentally appropriate activities that get campers excited about the environment
  • Communicate with YMCA staff regarding camp questions and basic camper information
  • Perform daily chores to organize, prepare for, and close out each day
  • Ensure safety of campers and staff by closely following established protocols
  • Meet daily with Lead Nature Educator to evaluate experience and performance

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Energetic, fun, approachable, inclusive, smart, and have leadership qualities
  • Passion for working with children ages 5-13
  • Love for being outdoors and nature
  • Ability to lead and engage children in outdoor educational activities
  • Flexibility to respond to weather, trail conditions, and camper interests
  • Commitment to safety protocols

On-site — Rocky Woods, Medfield, MA

Team

Structure: Part of a nature education team at YMCA Camp at Rocky Woods, collaborating with YMCA counselors and the Lead Nature Educator.. Reports to: Lead Educator

Additional Information

  • Hourly rate: $17.00 - $19.00/hour
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Hours per week: 17.5 hours/week
  • Job classification: seasonal, part-time
  • Employment period: June 15 - August 28
  • Daily responsibilities include leading nature hikes, planning activities, ensuring safety, and daily check-ins with Lead Educator
  • Work involves outdoor activities in varying weather and trail conditions
