The Trustees of Reservations is hiring a Seasonal Kayak Guide

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging outdoor programs that highlight access to a safe tidal estuary, trails, and regional natural and cultural assets
  • Ensure guest safety and satisfaction, including managing groups on the water and performing rescues when necessary
  • Use training from site experts to share knowledge about local ecology and heritage with participants
  • Submit post-event reports including attendance and enrollment figures
  • Help maintain kayaks and field equipment by identifying and documenting maintenance or repair needs
  • Share information with guests about membership opportunities and future programs
  • Collaborate with volunteers to enhance their experience and support program delivery

Compensation

$17-$20/hour

On-site — Crane Beach, Ipswich, MA

  • Pay rate ranges from $17 to $20 per hour
  • Workload averages 8 to 16 hours per weekend between June and August
  • Position is nonexempt and limited in duration
  • Work location is on-site only
  • Employment period spans from April through October
  • Kayaking season officially starts on Memorial Day Weekend and continues through October
  • Schedule includes weekends, weekdays, evenings, and select holidays, especially during high-demand periods
  • Guides lead trips using sit-in kayaks from the Crane Outdoors fleet, including hikes and outdoor excursions
  • Responsible for properly fitting guests with necessary safety and adventure gear
  • Required to prioritize safety and assist in maintaining organization-owned equipment
