Responsibilities
- Provide tax guidance for personal tax returns in a remote, seasonal and customer facing position
- Collaborate with customers to prepare or review their tax return to ensure the return is compliant and accurate, by providing tax guidance and/or tax preparation services
- Research and troubleshoot tax questions; communicate directly with customers by answering specific tax questions (written & oral)
- Provide a Full Service experience to prepare, review and file customers returns with the CRA and/or assist customers as they prepare their own tax return with tax advice, tax preparation and guidance on required documents for the CRA
- Research tax regulations to provide accurate advice on how to maximize customer’s tax return
- Create high-quality customer interactions and experiences that instill confidence using deep customer empathy, and your in-depth tax knowledge and expertise
- Proactively seek out and deliver the right answer for each customer by utilizing and government websites, professional resources, and team expertise and translating into everyday language for customers
- Apply defined practices, procedures and company policies to troubleshoot and resolve customer inquiries
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years’ paid professional tax preparation experience, using professional tax preparation software
- Minimum of 125 tax returns prepared, per tax season for the last 3 years
- Experience preparing and supporting a variety of federal and provincial returns for individuals, including student, pension, self-employed, rental property, investments, and foreign income
- Experience preparing & filing E2E customer personal returns, including employment, self-employment, rental, investments, T1135, foreign income and all credits/deductions
- Working knowledge of tax laws and tax concepts, superior critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Highly technical and comfortable with Windows and mobile platforms, as well as G-suite applications (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility in availability/schedule
Nice to Have
- Bilingual proficiency (English and French, read/write and speak) is considered an asset
- Experience preparing Quebec tax (TP1) returns considered an asset
- Experience providing support in a contact center environment is considered an asset
