The Trustees of Reservations is hiring a Seasonal Early Childhood Camp Educator Counselor

Responsibilities

  • Promote the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of campers, staff, and oneself.
  • Develop and deliver age-appropriate curriculum focused on agriculture, food systems, and natural resource stewardship with guidance from farm education staff.
  • Attend regular check-ins with the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director to review progress and performance.
  • As a Sprouts Instructor, lead daily activities for groups of 4-year-old campers.
  • Supervise and mentor Farm-Based Educators in Training (CITs aged 14–17) within the Sprouts group.
  • Design and organize daily activities suitable for early childhood development and weekly farm-centered projects.
  • Guide campers in plant and animal care tasks in the Friendship Garden and pasture areas; assist peers in maintaining shared spaces.
  • Keep updated records of daily reflections and lesson planning documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about camp operations, camper updates, and educational themes related to farm life.
  • Oversee daily cleaning duties and facility upkeep specific to the classroom environment.
  • As a Wee Farmers Instructor, facilitate 90-minute farm programs twice weekly for children ages 2–4 and their parents.

Compensation

Hourly rate ranging from $18.00 to $20.00, based on experience

Work Arrangement

On-site at Edgartown, The FARM Institute, Martha’s Vineyard, MA

Team

Collaborative team including camp educators and Farm-Based Educators in Training (CITs aged 14–17); reports to the Islands Education Manager/Camp Director

Other

  • Hourly compensation between $18.00 and $20.00, determined by relevant experience
  • Two weeks of paid collaborative training provided
  • Position classified as non-exempt and seasonal
  • Work format is onsite only
  • Employment period runs from June 8 to August 21, 2026
  • Camp Sprouts Instructor schedule: 25 hours per week, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Wee Farmers Instructor schedule: 18 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Limited staff housing is available; employees must secure summer accommodations, with support from TFI staff as liaisons
