Responsibilities
- Develop and supervise a dynamic curriculum blending art and nature, shaped by current exhibitions, instructor expertise, and camper interests.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate seasonal staff including the Assistant Camp Director, Art & Nature Instructors, Camp Behavior Specialist, and Junior Instructors.
- Manage all administrative aspects of camp operations, including registration, parent correspondence, and municipal licensing using CampBrain software.
- Conduct thorough training for Instructors and Junior Instructors to ensure strong understanding of program goals, teaching methods, and safety standards.
- Support the Assistant Camp Director in preparing Junior Instructors (ages 15–18) to actively contribute in studio settings.
- Address individual camper needs, behavioral challenges, and emotional well-being, including direct one-on-one supervision when necessary.
- Maintain proactive, clear, and compassionate communication with parents to support camper success and build trust.
- Work with instructors to install and dismantle weekly displays of camper artwork, emphasizing respectful presentation and safe handling practices.
- Attend and contribute to statewide camp leadership meetings and professional development sessions.
- Coordinate with nursery school and organizational staff to transition shared spaces between school use and summer camp programming.
- Serve as a designated Health Care Supervisor, managing first aid responses and camper medication administration as needed.

On-site — deCordova, Lincoln, MA
Team
Reports to the deCordova Interpretation Manager and supervises the Assistant Camp Director, Art & Nature Instructors, Camp Behavior Specialist, and Junior Instructors.
Other
- Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with Fridays extending to 5:00 PM.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours required for training and administrative duties.
- Employment period: May 11, 2026, to August 24, 2026.
- Position classification: Nonexempt, Seasonal.
- Primary worksite: deCordova, Lincoln, MA.
- Serve as camp Health Care Supervisor, responsible for coordinating first aid and managing camper medications.
