Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to act as a servant-leader for one or more Agile teams. In this role, you will establish team cadence, provide coaching, and drive the adoption of Agile practices across the organization to support our mission of helping people live healthier lives and making the health system work better for everyone.
What You'll Do
- Act as a Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, establishing team-level cadence and driving team-level events.
- Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to encourage the adoption of good agile practices.
- Influence leadership and management teams on agile principles, practices, and tools.
- Be a change agent and foster a 'learn by doing' environment.
- Encourage and facilitate cross-team coordination and collaboration.
- Facilitate management of the Scrum Team’s dependencies between the program team and third parties.
- Maintain metrics that provide visibility to stakeholders on team-level progress and quality.
- Drive release management for the agile teams.
- Track and manage project execution in accordance with company’s delivery and financial management practices.
- Drive adoption of the new delivery model and agile practices across the enterprise.
- Demonstrate thought leadership by engaging with the enterprise through speaking, learning forums, and blogging.
- Help teams develop and implement practices and metrics for continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics.
What We're Looking For
- Graduation or Master’s Degree Full time and Equivalent experience.
- Certified as either CSM, CSPO, CSP, SAFe Agilist or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Program Consultant (SPC), LeSS practitioner, or AKT (Kanban).
- 12+ years of IT/business solutions experience using Agile practices to develop software solutions.
- 6+ years of Scrum Master experience with distributed teams.
- 5+ years of Agile Coaching experience for multiple agile teams.
- 4+ years of demonstrated solid understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
- 3+ years of experience with leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
- Experience in implementing agile practice in globally distributed teams.
- Progressive experience in business roles where change management is a vital component, including people, process, and technology change.
- Experience in Agile tools like Rally and Jira or any other agile tools.
- Experience introducing and leading implementations of Agile values, principles, and practices (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and XP) into an organization.
- Experience implementing DevOps technical practices (e.g., Automated testing, ATDD, FDD, BDD, TDD, CICD).
- Experience with the implementation and execution of Scrum in an environment where individuals are unfamiliar with the methodology.
- Proven ability to coach and mentor agile teams and drive agile transformation.
- Proven excellent communication, both written and verbal skills.
- Proven technical currency and vision to evaluate Agile development tools, technology and trends.
- Proven ability to identify opportunity for improvement and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor agile teams on agile practices (processes, tools, artifacts and ceremonies).
- Demonstrated excellent active meeting facilitation and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and team building skills.
- Demonstrated solid project management skills and solid ability to multi-task and manage resources.
- Demonstrated solid quantitative, analytical and management skills.

- Knowledge of DevOps and Continuous Delivery pipeline.
