Role OverviewThe SC Materials Management Lead plays a central role in ensuring efficient and compliant materials handling across operations. This position provides expert guidance on supply base logistics, warehousing, and inventory control to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance. The role focuses on managing non-hydrocarbon stock for Production, Wells, and Projects, with an emphasis on inventory optimization, data integrity, and investment recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and adjust inventory levels—including minimums, maximums, and safety stock—based on operational needs and supply chain planning.
- Advise on inventory reallocation and support decisions around stock rebalancing to improve utilization.
- Oversee the movement of materials, including receiving, staging, returns, repair cycles, and disposal activities.
- Identify process improvements through digital tools and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline workflows.
- Track slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory and lead corrective actions in coordination with relevant teams.
- Lead warehouse performance management, ensuring accurate inventory records and effective recovery of surplus assets.
- Manage contractor operations related to warehousing, ensuring alignment with performance and compliance standards.
- Establish and maintain standardized procedures for inventory procurement, preservation, data quality, and optimal stock levels.
- Develop and refine inventory management processes to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Material Coordinators to optimize inventory across sites by analyzing demand and identifying dormant or excessive stock.
- Conduct audits of vendor-managed inventory and initiate improvements where necessary.
- Lead the transition of project materials to asset ownership, ensuring completeness and compliance.
- Support long-term operational planning, such as turnarounds and outages, by ensuring timely materials availability.
- Work with planners to execute operational plans and ensure adequate warehouse and yard capacity.
- Coordinate annual inventory counts to verify accuracy and support financial valuation.
- Support repair and return programs, including training and documentation updates.
- Manage contracts for outsourced inventory preservation and global investment recovery services.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, stockout rates, and inventory right-sizing to drive improvements.
- Identify operational issues and lead corrective actions across warehouse locations.
- Share best practices across regions and business units to promote consistency and efficiency.
- Advance cost-saving and cash conservation initiatives within inventory and warehouse operations.
- Apply market insights to shape supply chain strategies that maximize value from third-party spending.
- Support a strong safety culture by contributing to HSSE plans, contractor safety oversight, and LOD1 audits.
- Develop a deep understanding of business goals, production constraints, and value drivers.
- Collaborate closely with upstream operations teams to ensure materials are available when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Eligibility to work full-time in Trinidad & Tobago without current employer restrictions.
- University degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
- Minimum of ten years in materials, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably in logistics or materials planning roles.
- Familiarity with equipment, materials, and services used in oil and gas or petrochemical environments.
- Proven ability to oversee warehouse and supply base processes, including storage, preservation, and waste management policies.
- Experience analyzing and planning logistics service needs, including resource allocation and role definition.
- Strong grasp of end-to-end material lifecycle processes—from requisition through to disposal—and the impact of inefficiencies.
- Ability to lead inventory planning, forecasting, demand management, and surplus identification initiatives.
