Role Overview
A leading consulting firm is looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Consultant to play a key technical leadership role in enterprise transformation projects. Based in India with hybrid working flexibility, this position drives the design and delivery of SAP solutions during full-cycle implementations, particularly in the context of system migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA.
The consultant will collaborate closely with functional teams and stakeholders to interpret business requirements, define technical architecture, and ensure high-quality development outcomes aligned with clean core principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical teams in the design, development, and deployment of SAP ABAP solutions
- Engage with functional consultants and clients to gather and analyze business requirements
- Translate functional specifications into detailed technical design documents
- Ensure adherence to coding standards and mentor team members during development phases
- Contribute to design reviews, functional testing (FUT), and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Support clients during system migration, including custom code analysis and adaptation
- Resolve SPDD/SPAU conflicts during upgrades and system changes
- Participate in technical upgrade projects and support shift-based client engagements when needed
- Travel may be required based on project demands, both short-term and long-term
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on SAP ABAP experience
- Proven involvement in at least three end-to-end SAP implementations
- Direct experience in migrating from SAP ECC6.0 EHP8 to SAP S/4HANA RISE 2023 Private Cloud
- Strong understanding of custom code migration and clean core extensibility guidelines
- Expertise in RICEFW development and OOABAP concepts
- Proficiency in CDS views, AMDP, OData, ABAP RAP, Adobe Forms, Web Services, Proxies, and SAP-ABAP Workflow
- Experience using ABAP Development Tools (ADT) and ABAP Test Cockpit
- Knowledge of SPDD/SPAU conflict resolution and technical upgrade processes
- Familiarity with core SAP modules including MM, SD, FICO, PP, QM, and PS
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP BTP ABAP Environment
- Working knowledge of SAP data migration tools
- Understanding of Cloud Application Programming Model (CAPM)
- Exposure to Fiori Elements and Embedded Analytics
- Familiarity with IBP, eSPP, and APO modules
