Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the site's health and safety program in alignment with legal requirements and organizational goals.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by providing coaching, guidance, and training to both management and team members.
- Ensure all health, safety, and environmental policies, risk assessments, and safe work procedures are up to date, clearly communicated, and consistently followed.
- Deliver regular safety training, including onboarding sessions, toolbox talks, and refresher courses.
- Offer expert assistance in investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Track compliance with legal regulations, audit benchmarks, and internal performance indicators.
- Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits, ensuring all findings are addressed promptly.
- Manage documentation systems, non-conformance reports, and tracking of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support quality assurance initiatives, including hygiene practices, allergen controls, and pest management protocols.
- Maintain compliance with external quality certification standards.
- Ensure completion of fire safety inspections, emergency lighting tests, evacuation drills, and follow-up from fire risk assessments.
- Oversee facility operations to guarantee a safe, compliant, and well-maintained workplace.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to uphold compliance and audit readiness for facility-related activities.
- Develop systems to track, analyze, and benchmark safety performance over time.
- Review incident reports, occupational health data, and insurance claims to identify trends and reduce risk exposure and costs.
- Ensure risks are managed to a level considered 'reasonably practicable' under applicable laws.
- Keep accurate records of safety training and materials handling equipment certifications.
- Provide practical, solution-oriented support to site leadership teams.
- Assist in preparing budgets for safety, facilities, and compliance initiatives and manage spending within approved limits.
