Sharecare is looking for an ROI Medical Records Specialist to join our team remotely. This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. You will safeguard patient privacy and ensure all releases comply with the request, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.
What You'll Do
- Complete release of information requests including retrieving patient's medical chart, returning the chart, scanning medical records accurately, and transmitting daily.
- Date stamp all requests and highlight pertinent data to facilitate processing.
- Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information according to established procedures.
- Perform quality checks on all work to assure accuracy of the release, confidentiality, and proper invoicing.
- Maintain equipment in excellent operating condition.
- Provide excellent customer service by being attentive and respectful; ensure understanding of customer requests and follow-through as promised.
- Receive incoming requests including opening mail, telephone inquiries, and retrieving facsimile inquiries.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and professional personal appearance.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring that records and files are properly stored.
- Maintain working knowledge of existing state laws and fee structures.
- Work within scope of position and direction; willingly accept assignments and be available to take on additional facilities or help during backlogs.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with client/site policies and procedures, including HIPAA, state/federal regulations, and labor regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality, security, and standards of ethics with all information.
- Work with privileged information in a conscientious manner while releasing medical records efficiently, effectively, and accurately.
What We're Looking For
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Strong computer software experience—general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- The ability to type 50 wpm.
- The ability to use a fax, copier, and scanning machine.
- Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly.
- Must be self-motivated and a team player.
- Proven customer satisfaction skills.
- The ability to multi-task effectively.
Nice to Have
- A minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar setting.
