Responsibilities
- Processes requests for medical record releases by retrieving, scanning, and returning patient charts daily in line with quality, productivity, and procedural standards.
- Stamps each request with a date and marks key details to support efficient handling.
- Verifies authorization forms and release requests according to defined protocols.
- Conducts quality reviews to confirm accuracy, confidentiality, and correct billing of released records.
- Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order.
- Delivers strong customer service through active listening, respect, clear communication, and follow-through on commitments.
- Handles incoming requests via mail, phone, or fax as required by client needs.
- Maintains a professional appearance and complies with workplace dress standards.
- Keeps the workspace organized and ensures records are securely stored before departure.
- Stays informed about current state laws and associated fees related to medical record release.
- Works within defined role parameters, accepts assigned tasks, and supports additional workloads during peak periods.
- Follows organizational policies and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and labor laws, in all duties.
- Protects sensitive data by upholding confidentiality, security, and ethical standards.
- Handles confidential health information responsibly while ensuring timely, precise, and efficient record releases.
