Cape Cod Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for our RN Residency & Transition program in Emergency Services. This structured role is designed for nurses transitioning into or within emergency care, where you'll apply the nursing process to deliver and document high-quality patient care.
What You'll Do
- Utilize the nursing process in patient care and maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide comprehensive patient assessment documentation, including physical, psychological, and social dimensions, as well as discharge plans.
- Assume and demonstrate proficiency in the role of charge nurse.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics.
- Act as a resource person for patient care, staff orientation, and teaching.
- Participate in at least four unit staff meetings per year, attend mandatory programs, and obtain three hours of PCAC credit annually.
- Participate in identifying aspects of patient care, quality indicators, and care evaluation.
- Adhere to safety and blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
- Assess personal learning needs and maintain documentation of professional development activities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters.
- Consistently provide service excellence to patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
- Perform other assigned work-related duties.
What We're Looking For
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Basic Life Support Certification required and must be maintained.
- Successful passage of CCH’s Pharmacology exam.
- Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program and challenge exam; demonstrated skills in IV administration, IV starts, ventilator care, and telemetry monitoring by end of the novice program.
- ACLS Certification required by end of the novice program and must be maintained.
- Must read, write, and communicate in English.
- Completion of an approved de-escalation Certification Course required by end of the transition program.
- Recent clinical experience (within the last 2 years) as an Emergency Center Technician, EMT, LPN, RN, or nurses’ aide.
Nice to Have
- BSN preferred.
- TNCC, ENPC, and PALS certifications preferred.
