The Risk Strategist plays a central role in maintaining the integrity of a rapidly scaling digital marketplace. By combining analytical rigor with practical risk management, this position ensures the platform remains secure for buyers and sellers across North America and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and interpret patterns in trust and fraud activity to uncover underlying causes
- Design, refine, and manage policy enforcement rules that scale with platform growth
- Build systems and strategies to detect and respond to bad actor behavior
- Assess current risk tools and workflows, recommending improvements to enhance effectiveness
- Partner with engineering, operations, and data science teams to implement and maintain fraud controls
- Monitor the impact of risk strategies and adjust based on performance data
- Identify strategic investments in trust and safety for both immediate and future needs
- Analyze potential fraud exposure when launching new products or entering new regions
- Develop proactive risk mitigation plans ahead of product and market rollouts
- Collaborate across technical and operational teams to embed long-term protections into the platform

- Demonstrated interest in advancing platform safety and contributing to core business objectives
- Experience analyzing trust and fraud trends with a focus on actionable insights

Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in one of the following locations: New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Team members must reside within commuting distance of one of these hubs, with flexibility to work remotely or from an office.
Compensation & Benefits
For US-based roles, the annual base salary ranges from $140,000 to $210,000, with equity included. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a home office stipend, monthly allowances for internet, wellness, and app usage, and support for family planning and childcare. Employees receive 16 weeks of paid parental leave with a one-month reintegration period.
