Travelers is looking for a Risk Control Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Boiler and Machinery Field Manager and be responsible for conducting inspections in accordance with jurisdictional rules. You will work cooperatively with underwriting and claim groups to support profit and growth.
What You'll Do
- Manage jurisdictional inspection workload within an assigned territory with limited guidance.
- Prioritize, plan, and schedule work for the territory, utilizing technology resources for maximum efficiency.
- Respond to customer requests and help customers understand and mitigate equipment breakdown risks.
- Conduct boiler and pressure vessel inspections by performing examinations, identifying hazards, applying codes, recommending corrective action, and submitting reports.
- Perform less complex risk evaluations under moderate supervision, evaluating exposures and controls, developing loss estimates, and communicating findings.
- Apply critical thinking to determine adequacy of controls preventing equipment breakdown and overall insurability.
- Investigate less complex Equipment Breakdown claims, evaluating damage, invoices, and cause of loss.
- Effectively document, communicate, and report findings.
What We're Looking For
- Two years of experience in the boiler and machinery industry or a related field, such as plant engineering, power generation, manufacturing operations or maintenance, or relevant military experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must obtain an Inservice Commission (IS) from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors within six months of employment.
- Must have or be able to attain appropriate certification to meet state-specific requirements, where applicable.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector’s Inservice commission.
- Military Boiler or Nuclear Power operator certification.
- Civilian Power Boiler Operation Certificate.
- ANSI NDE Level II Examiner Certification.

- Compensation range: $71,900.00 - $118,700.00.
