Builders Capital Exchange is looking for a Risk Analyst - Borrower Performance to play a critical role in assessing and managing risks for our residential construction lending activities. You will evaluate land development and construction projects, analyze market trends, and provide insights to align our lending practices with risk management objectives.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate borrower-proposed budgets and project timelines to ensure they are reasonable and achievable.
- Review and evaluate due diligence documents such as Phase 1, Geotech, and site inspection reports.
- Analyze the industry and market for risks and new trends in construction processes, costs, and durations.
- Analyze and evaluate proposed entitlements and construction activities related to loan requests.
- Research and ensure understanding of regional entitlement and construction constraints.
- Communicate with project engineers, architects, and local jurisdictions to evaluate and mitigate potential development and construction risks.
- Use localized data on construction material costs and supply chain factors to evaluate loan size, complexity, timeline, and associated risks.
- Evaluate and recommend potential risk mitigation measures for identified development and construction risks.
- Devise metrics for loan approval based on construction costs and duration, creating repeatable processes when possible.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Land Development or Risk Analyst, preferably in construction lending, real estate finance, or homebuilding.
- Knowledge of land development processes, including zoning, entitlements, and environmental considerations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial statements and conduct risk assessments.
- Proven experience evaluating entitlements, construction budgets, and project schedules.
- Strong ability to analyze proposed entitlements and construction activities for feasibility and compliance.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to consistently produce high-quality work and demonstrate high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Applicable experience necessary to understand the legal and business considerations relevant to our industry.
- Process-oriented with the ability and desire to identify, develop, and implement efficiencies and improvements.
