About the Role
The Revenue Accountant will be responsible for accurately recording and reporting revenue in accordance with GAAP, supporting month-end close activities, maintaining documentation for audits, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve revenue-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Accurately record and classify revenue transactions following established accounting policies
- Support timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for revenue recognition in compliance with standards
- Collaborate with sales and contract teams to understand deal structures and terms
- Analyze customer contracts to determine proper revenue recognition timing
- Assist in audit preparation by providing required financial records and explanations
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in revenue reporting promptly
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls
- Prepare and review journal entries related to revenue and deferred income
- Monitor changes in accounting regulations affecting revenue reporting
- Work with external partners to clarify contract terms impacting revenue
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger for all revenue accounts
- Track and report on deferred revenue balances and trends
- Develop and improve internal processes for revenue accounting efficiency
- Provide input on system enhancements related to billing and revenue systems
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of revenue recognition software
- Support internal and external audit requests with accurate data and explanations
- Prepare revenue-related disclosures for financial statements
- Partner with finance colleagues to ensure alignment on reporting practices
- Identify risks and recommend controls to mitigate revenue recognition errors
- Stay current with evolving accounting standards and industry practices
- Escalate complex revenue issues following defined procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of financial data and adhere to reporting policies
- Contribute to special projects related to revenue process improvements
- Ensure consistency in revenue treatment across similar contract types
