Lead Revenue Accounting in a Scaling SaaS Environment
As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you will take full ownership of revenue accounting processes in a high-growth, remote-first SaaS organization. Your role is central to ensuring accurate revenue recognition, compliance with ASC 606, and alignment across financial and operational systems in a multi-currency, multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end revenue accounting, including recognition, reversals, and adjustments, ensuring strict adherence to accounting standards.
- Own and maintain accurate SaaS metrics such as ARR, MRR, churn, and expansion, ensuring consistency across billing, revenue, and financial reporting.
- Be the primary administrator of Maxio, overseeing billing configurations, revenue schedules, integrations, and reporting outputs.
- Oversee the complete invoicing lifecycle, from setup to delivery, ensuring alignment with contracts, pricing terms, and customer agreements.
- Manage accounts receivable, including collections follow-up, dispute resolution, and coordination with Sales and Customer Success to improve cash flow.
- Support vendor onboarding and setup, ensuring compliance with internal controls and approval workflows.
- Handle revenue and AR operations across multiple legal entities and currencies, applying correct foreign exchange treatments and reporting standards.
- Lead revenue close activities each month and quarter, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial disclosures.
- Prepare schedules for revenue and accounts receivable and serve as the main contact during external audits.
- Review customer contracts with Legal, Sales, and Deal Desk to confirm appropriate revenue timing and billing terms.
- Collaborate with FP&A, RevOps, and Customer Success to support forecasting, reporting, and operational improvements.
- Identify automation and process enhancements to scale revenue operations efficiently.
- Maintain clear documentation, accounting policies, and internal controls to support audit and SOX compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on SaaS revenue and recurring business models.
- Proven track record managing ARR, MRR, and other SaaS KPIs with precision.
- Direct experience using Maxio for billing and revenue management.
- Experience working in multi-entity and multi-currency environments with complex financial structures.
- Strong command of ASC 606 and its practical application in subscription-based businesses.
- Hands-on experience managing invoicing, collections, and AR processes from start to finish.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for financial modeling and analysis.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with accounting standards, compliance frameworks, and internal controls.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA designation is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This role is 100% remote, with flexibility to work from any location. Occasional in-person gatherings, team meetings, or training sessions may be scheduled based on business needs. The position supports hybrid collaboration across global hubs including San Francisco, New York, Boston, Paris, and London.
