Role Overview
This fully remote position supports the accurate administration and reporting of 401(k) retirement plans. As a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist, you will manage client documentation, perform data reconciliations, and ensure compliance with federal filing requirements. You’ll work closely with clients to gather necessary information, verify data integrity, and guide them through plan obligations throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and assess client-submitted documents for accuracy and completeness
- Perform reconciliations on plans involving rollovers and plan-held stock using Excel and specialized administration tools
- Conduct annual 401(k) testing and reporting using internal software platforms
- Prepare IRS Form 5500 and other required government filings through designated filing systems
- Initiate follow-up communications via phone and email to keep reporting timelines on track
- Explain plan requirements and processes to clients in clear, accessible terms
- Support training initiatives aimed at advancing skills toward Retirement Plan Administrator I level
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and improve operational workflows
Technology Used
You’ll work with Excel, retirement plan administration software, and electronic filing systems to manage data, run compliance tests, and submit reports.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote role with no requirement to report to an office. You must be located in one of the following states: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Missouri, or Oklahoma.
Compensation and Growth
The position offers an hourly rate of $23.55, equating to an annual salary of approximately $49,000. The company is transitioning toward an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), offering future equity participation as part of its long-term vision.
